Separate contractual promise from marketing language

A slogan is not the same as an enforceable term.

Ask who bears the downside

If an outcome changes, identify whether the customer, lender, insurer, investor or seller carries the loss.

Look for guarantees carefully

A guarantee is only as useful as its legal scope and the ability of the guarantor to perform.

Do not infer suitability

A product can be legitimate and still be unsuitable for a particular person's goals or finances.
